The club caters for all ages and standards, from the ambitious and committed league players to those who prefer a more relaxed social approach.
We have as many as 6 teams competing in local leagues and there is a comprehensive Coaching Programme available for players of all abilities and ages.
We offer an extensive Coaching Programme for children utilising the LTA approved "mini-tennis" game delivered by our LTA licensed coaches under the stewardship of Head Coach, Jonathan Smith, an ex-UK Davis Cup player.
Once you join the club please use the booking forms to decide when you or your children would like to come along and have some coaching. If you're not sure which group, don't worry we'll sort it out when you get here! The first session is always free so just contact us and we'll fit you in somehow!
Junior members who have good ability and are keen to have additional coaching can join small squads for more intensive coaching. For more information, please contact us.
We have a fun coaching session for Juniors called Tots! This is a part of our LTA mini-tennis programme for those children still just a bit too young to wield a tennis racket, yet teaching them skills such as balance and agility with lots of fun and games!
In 2012 we were very proud to welcome the President of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Peter Bretherton to our Club to officially open the new facilities.
Jo-Anne Downing, the LTA's Tennis Development Manager for Berkshire, said: "We're delighted that Peter has taken the time out of his busy schedule to visit us this weekend and see the progress being made across Oxford and Berkshire to grow tennis and how the LTA investment in Shinfield Tennis Club has supported that tennis venue."
The Mayor of Wokingham Borough Council, Councillor Bob Wyatt also attended.

Shinfield Tennis Club is a friendly Clubmark accredited club registered with the LTA and located in the pleasant surroundings of Shinfield village. In 2012 and with the help of the LTA, Sport England and both the local Parish Council and Wokingham Borough Council, the club underwent major redevelopment to transform it into a modern playing facility with four floodlit courts.
We have a new clubhouse and the car parking facilities have been much improved. The club continues to grow with fast approaching 300 members, and offers a full programme of coaching for adults and juniors alike. Play is on offer all year round with tennis into the evening under floodlights.
We now offer the increasingly popular Cardio Tennis. It's like Fit Camp only with a tennis racket in your hand! You don't need to be a member of the club or play tennis to join in, and it's good for all ages from school age upwards. It's fun and will keep us all fit!
Cardio Tennis is available every weekday during the day.
For more information or to arrange to come up and try the club please contact us. We're sure you'll find something at Shinfield Tennis Club that will suit your tennis and let you enjoy being part of a vibrant and healthy club!
Full adult membership works out at less than £2.50 a week!
We have a number of fun social events running throughout the year. Social events are also a way of raising much needed funds towards improving our clubs facilities, and we always welcome ideas and offers of help from our members.
Please contact Rob Walter if you would like to get involved in any of our fundraising projects.
All through the year there are various club tournaments and matches as well as our regular club sessions.
We are extremely proud to support The Donkor Tennis Foundation, founded to provide guidance, education, sports training, and mentoring for Ghanaian children and young adults, with the hope of reducing poverty and facilitating positive opportunities.
